Easiklip Pre-Installation Checklist
To guarantee a trouble-free installation, follow these important guidelines.
Installation Schedule
At EasiKlip we are committed to providing you with the most efficient and smooth delivery experience. However, delays in shipment sometimes happen due to the unforeseen circumstances such as weather. We highly recommend that you wait until you receive the product before finalizing the installation date.
Prepare Your Space For Installation
While getting your space ready, take care of these details:
- Be sure all “wet trades” (plumbers, cement, drywall) have finished their work. If you’re painting, the paint should be allowed to dry before the flooring arrives.
- Run all heating and cooling systems for at least 2-3 days before the product’s anticipated delivery date to ensure your home’s relative humidity is in the 40%-65% range. Maintain this humidity range after installation as well.
- Make sure the floor of the room you’re installing is flat, and the subfloor material is suitable for wood flooring.
Check your flooring
- Before you accept your flooring from our shipping carrier, ensure that there are no signs of damage to the boxes. If damage is visible, please note the damages on the waybill before you sign off on it and the delivery driver leaves. Take photos of the damage and report them immediately to our customer care department at customercare@easiklip.ca or call 1-855-539-5547.
- To make sure you’re delighted with your new floor, open 2-3 boxes as soon as it arrives. Confirm the product specs like color, board length, and grade are correct.
- Assemble one box by hand to check the milling quality; look for gaps, height variance, and any other signs of damage.
Moisture Monitoring
Its critical that you measure and record the moisture content of your new hardwood and the subfloor on which it will be installed. Here are ways you can control proper moisture levels:
- All wood flooring, whether pre-finished or site-finished, needs to acclimate before installation can begin.
- At the time of installation, the recommended moisture content is 10% or less for wood floors and 12% or less for subfloors. This difference between flooring and subfloor shouldn’t exceed 2%. Don’t install the product unless it’s in this range; allow more time for conditioning to help ensure a high-quality installation.
- Please take photos of all moisture level readings for documentation purposes.
- Acclimate the boards. Open the ends of the boxes and allow the boards to sit in the room for 2 to 3 days before installing. This allows them to adjust to the humidity of the room.
Planning Your Layout
Before you start the installation, open a minimum of 5 boxes. Mix boards from different boxes to avoid patches of darker or lighter areas. Plan the layout of your flooring planks to achieve the look you want.
If you have any issues with the product, please stop your installation and report them IMMEDIATELY (ideally within 15 days of the product arriving) to our customer service representatives. Please note that once you install your Easiklip floors, you deem the flooring acceptable and it is no longer eligible for a refund.
