The success of your hardwood flooring installation depends largely on your subfloor. Ensure that your underlayment requirements are met with our underlayment that provides a vapor barrier, sound deadening, and cushioning for your new floating floor.

 

The success of every installation of Easiklip solid hardwood floating flooring is dependant on the subfloor preparation.

To prepare a subfloor correctly, it must be flat (no more than .18" of variance in a 10ft radius) and it must be dry.

To ensure dryness and to provide some necessary cushioning and sound isolation under your hardwood flooring, an underlayment is required.

Which underlayment is best for hardwood flooring?

For Easiklip solid 3/4" hardwood flooring, we recommend a 2mm (roughly 1/12th inch) thick foam pad with a moisture barrier.  

It will be easiest to install if the underlayment is a 2-in-1 roll that includes the foam and the moisture barrier in one. Also, look to see if it has an adhesive strip along one side as that will speed up your installation. You don't want to be fussing with duct tape all day!

Is this real, solid white oak flooring?

Yes. All Easiklip flooring is milled from genuine ¾-inch solid white oak. It is not engineered, veneer-layered, or plywood-backed.

Because it is solid hardwood throughout, it can be sanded and refinished multiple times over its lifespan, allowing restoration rather than replacement.

What makes Easiklip different from other floating floors?

What conditions must be met before installation?

Successful installation depends on preparation.

Before installing Easiklip flooring, you must confirm:

• Subfloor is level within tolerance
• Subfloor is dry and clean
• Indoor humidity remains between 40% and 65%
• Boards acclimate for at least 72 hours
• A vapour barrier is installed over concrete

Can Easiklip be installed over concrete?

Yes. Easiklip can be installed over properly prepared concrete slabs using a continuous 6-mil vapour barrier beneath a 3 mm foam underlay.

Concrete moisture must meet the specification before installation. Detailed instructions are available in the Installation Guide.

Does Easiklip flooring expand and contract?

Yes. All real wood responds to seasonal humidity changes.

That is why Easiklip requires:

• 72-hour acclimatization
• 5/8-inch perimeter expansion gap
• Indoor humidity maintained between 40–65%
• Installation width limited to 20 feet without transitions

Following these guidelines ensures long-term stability and prevents buckling or excessive gapping.

Can Easiklip flooring be refinished?

Yes. Because it is solid ¾-inch white oak, Easiklip flooring can be sanded and refinished over time.

This is a significant advantage over engineered products with thin veneers that cannot withstand multiple refinishing cycles.

How long does solid white oak flooring last?

With proper installation and indoor humidity control, solid white oak flooring can last 50–70 years or more.

Unlike laminate or vinyl products that require full replacement once worn, solid hardwood can be restored and maintained for decades.
